Bread Uttapam-Easy Instant Bread Dosa Recipe-Kids Breakfast Recipes - Padhuskitchen (2024)

by PadhuSankar 5 Comments

This is a quick and instant dosa made with bread that does not need any planning or preparation like soaking rice and dal, grinding, fermenting etc. Well, you cannot compare this with the regular South Indian Plain Dosa or uthappam but you can definitely try this for a change once in a while. Kids love colors and variety. If you serve them the same bread toast or sandwich, they will complain of boring repeated breakfast. They will love, if the same bread is given differently. This bread uthappam can also be served as an after school snack. Today we will learn how to make bread uthappam or pancake following this easy recipe with step wise pictures.

Method

Heat a tawa and pour a ladle of batter. You cannot spread this batter like the regular dosa. For kids, make small dosas like I have made. If it is for adults, you can spread a little and make it slightly bigger.

Drizzle 1/2 tsp of oil around the dosas. Once cooked, flip it over to the other side, add another 1/2 tsp of oil and cook until golden brown.

Serve hot with tomato chutney. You can decorate the dosas as you like and surprise your little ones.

Note – This dosa has to be served hot. The batter cannot be stored and has to be used immediately after mixing. That is the reason, I have given measurement for very less quantity.

You can add capsicum (all colors), grated beetroot, tomato (without seeds), finely chopped coriander or mint leaves.

For Bread Dosa– omit the vegetables and make plain dosa.

I tend to be purist when it comes to recipes and was at first doubtful about this recipe – "bread uttapam?!", I thought. But after a great experience with your mysore rasam recipe (I posted a review but it did not post :-() I decided to defer to your proven skills and give it a shot. Was it a pleasant suprise?! Came out really well and the family loved it again! This is my first foray into South Indian recipes and so far it has been very encouraging, thanks to you! Keep up the good work and many thanks for these excellent and creative recipes!
