If you’ve never had roasted garlic before, you’re in for such a treat!!

Even if you’re not a garlic fan, you’ve got to try it.

Because by some kind of magic (ok, mostly science!), the sharp pungent cloves of garlic transform into creamy soft and caramelized paste that is so incredibly delicious!!!

How to Roast Garlic:

This’s the most classic and easiest way to roast garlic:

  1. Cut a head of garlic in half and place it on a sheet of foil.
  2. Drizzle some olive oil over the cut side and sprinkle some salt.
  3. Replace the top of the garlic and wrap the foil.
  4. Place in a hot oven (anywhere between 375-400°F is ideal) and roast for about 45 minutes.

Yes, that simple! Now, just cool it and then squeeze the creamy soft paste out and enjoy!

Tip

Whenever you’re roasting something savory (think: pot roast, roast chicken, or even prime rib.) in the oven, throw 1-2 heads of garlic, wrapped in foil, directly on the rack. You don’t even need to place them on a baking sheet.

How to store roasted garlic:

  • Refrigerate roasted garlic for up to 3 days.
  • Or freeze for up to 3 monthsthis’s my go-to method for storing roasted garlic.

How to freeze roasted garlic:

I usually freeze in 1 tablespoon chunks for convenience.

  1. Squeeze the softened garlics out of the skin.
  2. Mash them and divide into 1 tablespoon chunks.
  3. Wrap in plastic wrap, place in a freezer bag and freeze.

WARNING! Never store roasted garlic at room temperature, especially submerged in olive oil. Due to low acidity and warm temperatures, it creates a perfect environment for Clostridium botulinum, which could lead to botulism. (Source page 3)
